Busy Bee

So I've been a bit busy lately and haven't worked on the book in a few days. I've barely even thought about it, except to tell myself I need to work on it. Thankfully I don't have much to do today, besides church and laundry, so I'm going to set aside at least an hour this afternoon to work on it. My goal for today is to finish the first chapter, which I am only three paragraphs into so far. I have a good idea what all I want in the first chapter so it's just a matter of getting it down on paper. I'll post more after I work on it today.

Two minds are better then one

I've been trying to get word out about this blog, and so has my brother. I'm really needing to push myself to keep up on this and the novel itself, but my brother, Kevin, has proven invaluable. The old addage "Two minds are better than one" is proving itself true time and again. Not only has he helped with ideas for my novel, but surprisingly I seem to be helping him as well. Not to toot my own horn, but I feel we both have great minds for fiction, he's a lot better at getting it written out though. With his help I feel I'll actually be able to finish this book, I'm just not sure how long it will take.

The Beginning

Today I started writing a novel.  I have started other novels before, but have never finished.  I have put some things in place to ensure that I actually stick with it this time, including this blog.  My novel is based in a post-apocalyptic world, after what they call the Great War.  The main character is a 16 year old boy who is the son of the leader, known as the Teacher, of a small village.  As his son he will take over when he is older, but he must go on a journey to the closest large city to speak with the priests there.  Needless to say this is just a basic outline of the beginning.  Many struggles will ensue, with a lot of awesome fights and supernatural experiences.  As I get more done in my novel I will post small teasers from it.
